When dealing with a ‘parenting problem’ the idea of picking up a thick heavy book can be as daunting as the issue at hand. Now you can instead pick up one of the PocketRescue books writing by Dr Katrin Bain.
As with any parenting book I am skeptical that it will actually offer me a solution that fits for my family and with such a small pocket sized booklet I was even more skeptical First impression is good as they look clear and simple. Looking at the cover of the three booklets next to each other I can immediately identify the topic of each booklet. When I pick them up and flick through them I notice some lined pages and tables which are empty, intrigued I have a quick look and am happy to note that these are spaces for me to fill in which suggests that the booklets are interactive and can be tailored to fit.
Reading all three books shows I was right. Each booklet covers the basics of the why, gives some possible solutions and looks at the feelings of the parent as well. Simple yet effective the books arrived just as my youngest was diving head first from babyhood into a full blown toddler experience and despite her being my third child I got a lot from reading the booklets and have them sitting within reach.
The booklets are written with a non judgmental basis and an understanding of the difficulties parents face. Including some personal anecdotes which make me relate to the author very easily and had me nodding my head in agreement.
I would love it if all parents would be given these by their health visitor if they go for a 2 year development check!
Dr. Katrin Bain donated booklets to go in the goody bags at Big Camp 2012, if you received one why not let us know your thoughts on the booklet below!
